Join us Saturday, October 7th at Studio 308 for The Tulsa Sampler Listening Party!
Doors: 6:30pm
Party starts: 7:00pm
The Tulsa Sampler was recorded by Pilgrim Record Co. to promote Tulsa music in 1977 and features Jim Byfield, rock group TULSA, Sonny Landreth, Harry Tucker, El Roacho, Jim Sweney, Guava, Walt Richmond, Debbie Campbell, Gailard Sartain, Jamie Oldaker & Dick Simms and more.
The evening’s format celebrates Tulsa music past and present, and begins by listening to the 1977 LP, The Tulsa Sampler, with a background story video that includes a 1977 KMOD interview with Peter Nicholls, founder of the Pilgrim Record Co., which had its offices across the street from the Magicians Theater in 1977. Peter discusses his time with Leon Russell and why he had the vision to start a record label in Tulsa. Then we move into a Q&A with the audience, followed by a live performance from Brad Absher & the Superials with special guest Stephen White.
Only 100 seats are available, so reserve your spot now before they’re all gone.
All donations benefit the 501(c) nonprofit Red Dirt Relief Fund to support their Emergency Financial Assistance Fund for Oklahoma music creators. Since 2012, RDRF has helped more than 800 music professionals with $754,000 in aid to help them recover from accidents, illness, natural disasters, and other unforeseen crises including COVID-19 joblessness.
